10,000 Reasons

I love love love this song.  We sang it today at church, and then Rainey and I heard it on the way home from San Antonio tonight.  When we got home we pulled up the video below and sang along together.  After we said our prayers and I tucked her in, I shut her door and a few minutes later heard her singing it to herself.  🙂   That makes a momma proud.  Enjoy it, it’s a powerful one.

Busted Heart

I know I haven’t written in awhile and I’m not really writing today.  I’ll get back on track soon, I promise.   I really don’t have any good excuses…but I have been “busy” whatever that really means. 🙂

I had to share this song.  I absolutely love it!  See what you think.  It has a great message and I can feel God speaking to me with the lyrics.  I desperately want God to always “hold onto me” and “never let me go”!

Passionate About What Does Matter

The other day I was listening to a clip on the radio of the lead singer of Casting Crowns talk about their new song “Courageous”.  He talked about what sparked him to write this song.  He’s a youth pastor and he mentors to teenage boys and in doing so he has gotten to know many of the dads.  He said what he realized is that men today have gotten really passionate about what doesn’t matter and passive about what does matter.  Ouch.   He talked about how that can lead to the demise of our famlies and many other things and how men were made for so much more.  He was specific to fathers, but again, this message spoke to me as well, it should speak to all of us.  We were all made for more.

I definitely do NOT want to be passive about Jesus, and honestly He is all that should matter.  Every day.  Ever hour.  Every single second. Jesus.  Without Him you and I would have no hope for a future, we would struggle in our own sins and guilt forever and we would never be made new.  We would die and never know everlasting life.

So we need to focus on being passionate about what does matter and passive about what doesn’t matter.  All the time.  If we put a lot of time into what makes us happy and less time in to Jesus, what are we saying is more important?

If we find time to read many things of this world, but no time for the Bible.  Again, where are our priorities?

Do you spend more time filling yourself with Jesus or the world?

Don’t be of the world, be in the world only to change it and to turn as many people as you can to Jesus Christ.  Period.   That is our job.

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.”  Romans 12:2

Here is the video for the song courageous.

Manifesto by The City Harmonic

Last night we had our small group meeting, which is at our house.  After the meeting two of our good friends stayed and talked.  It was a really good time.  During that conversation we talked about this song.  I love this song.  I hadn’t listened to it in awhile, but after our talk last night I was inspired to watch the video this morning.  I decided to share it, in case you are not familiar with it.   It’s a good one.  Enjoy!

You Make Beautiful Things…

I love, love, love this song.  This is actually the song that plays in the video on Jennie’s blog (in my last post).  But I wanted to include the entire song here with the words.  It’s a powerful and incredible song.  It’s…. well, beautiful.

My favorite line:  “You make me new, you are making me new”.    That’s how I feel.   God made me new and continues to make me new everyday.  He not only created all the beautiful things in our world, but He does beautiful things with each and every one of our lives, if we let him.

So Long Self

This is an older song by MercyMe, but it’s one of my favorites.  It’s funny, because it’s written as if you are breaking up with yourself.    However, evertime I hear it, it reminds me that it is not about me!   I need to get out of my own way and only follow Jesus, not myself.  Following myself never works out.  Following Jesus always does.

You Are More

I think those three words are some of the most important words we need to hear.  Especially those, like me, that have made decisions in their past that they regret.  I’ve made choices in my life that I’m not proud of and that I wish I could change, but I can’t.  Only God can use those choices to help others make good choices.  I’ve become a living example of why we want to always listen and follow where God leads.

Sometimes the first place to start is to truly believe that “You Are More“.  God wants you to know and believe that He loves you no matter what.   You are so much more to Him than the choices you have made, than the problems you create.

I love this song and I love this video.  Notice all of the words they write on the chalkboard and then water (signifying Jesus’ blood) washes it all away.  You are NEW in Christ, Hallelujah!  I have included the lyrics to this song below the video.  Read them and believe them.  God wants you to know them as truth.  You’ve been remade.

There’s a girl in the corner
With tear stains on her eyes
From the places she’s wandered
And the shame she can’t hide

She says, “How did I get here?
I’m not who I once was.
And I’m crippled by the fear
That I’ve fallen too far to love”

But don’t you know who you are,
What’s been done for you?
Yeah don’t you know who you are?

You are more than the choices that you’ve made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You’ve been remade.

Well she tries to believe it
That she’s been given new life
But she can’t shake the feeling
That it’s not true tonight

She knows all the answers
And she’s rehearsed all the lines
And so she’ll try to do better
But then she’s too weak to try

But don’t you know who you are?

You are more than the choices that you’ve made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You’ve been remade.

You are more than the choices that you’ve made,
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes,
You are more than the problems you create,
You’ve been remade.

‘Cause this is not about what you’ve done,
But what’s been done for you.
This is not about where you’ve been,
But where your brokenness brings you to

This is not about what you feel,
But what He felt to forgive you,
And what He felt to make you loved.

You’ve been remade
You’ve been remade.
You’ve been remade.
You’ve been remade.

Safe

What a great title. I know I post a lot of videos to songs that I love, but I can’t help it. I love music and Christian music really inspires and comforts me. This song is no exception. It’s a great reminder of how much we are loved by Christ and how “safe” we are in His arms. Phil Wickham is the singer and songwriter, and Bart Millard (lead singer of MercyMe) is singing with him on the chorus. Bart is one of my favorite Christian singers and I think he makes this song even better.

Here is the song along with the lyrics.
